Audi Q3 Facelift Engine & Performance

Audi Q3 Overview

The Audi Q3 is crafted in the athletic silhouette to showcase company’s excellence of merging beauty and sportiness convincingly. This urban vehicle is very well designed to look vigorous with some impressions of sophistication all across its profile and what makes the Q3 more adorable is the addition of innovative features like the 3D grille, Chrome plated tailpipe and Optional LED headlamps. Moreover, regular features such as Xenon plus headlamps, Front fog lights, LED rear lamps (optional), Electrically adjustable + Heated + Power folding and Auto Dimming ORVMs with LED blinkers, Panoramic glass roof and Aluminium alloy wheels make its appearance more striking. The inside also looks very soothing with the usage of premium leather upholstery, premium plastics and creation of optimum space for the occupants. The Q3 also gets new elements like Auto drive select, Hill decent control and Power lumbar support that makes it more comfortable to drive. Check for Audi cars Price, Review, Features & Specifications at CarzPrice

Audi Q3 Looks

You would have to be a hardcore Audi geek to spot the difference between the 2017 facelift and the 2015 version. We’ll save you the trouble — there are just two. The front bumper has been redesigned, with the faux air inlet being slightly larger than before. Secondly, there’s an added dose of cladding that gives it a typical rough-roader look.Everything else remains identical to the outgoing version. But, that’s not a bad thing. The all-LED headlamps look slick, and the daytime running lamps grab attention. The dynamic turn indicator (LEDs blink sequentially in the direction of the turn) is a cool party piece too. What we particularly like are the loud colours the Q3 is offered with. The Aqua Blue and Bright Red shades you see in the pictures look stunning and suit the youthful nature of the Q3 quite well. We recommend skipping the subtle black, white and silver and look at these instead — they transform the little SUV into a head turner.

The Q3 is unmistakably Audi in its design. Aesthetically, it might not have the flair of a GLA, but with its crisp lines and upright stance, it is definitely likeable. To put it simply, the little Audi looks more like a scaled-down SUV than a blown-up hatchback. Measuring in at 4388mm x 1831mm x 1608mm (l x w x h), the Q3 isn’t the longest or tallest in its class, neither has the largest wheelbase. The BMW X1 is a full 51mm longer (and 10mm taller), while the Mercedes-Benz GLA has a 96mm longer wheelbase. The Audi is the widest car of the lot, measuring 10mm wider than the BMW and 27mm wider than the Mercedes.

Audi Q3 Cabin

There are no major changes to report in the cabin. The Audi Q3 carries forward with the same neat dashboard and generally user-friendly interior. Quality is up there with more expensive Audis and though the seats are not real leather but leatherette, the ambience inside is what you’d expect in a premium SUV. You sit reasonably high up in a Q3, the front seats are generous in size and support and even the rear seat is spacious enough for two adults to sit in comfort.

With the update, Audi has streamlined the variants on offer. The 30TFSI and 30TDI can only be had in Premium trim while the 35TDI is available in Premium Plus and Technology trim too. What is nice is that even the Premium variants get much wanted goodies like a panoramic sunroof and electrically adjustable front seats. The Premium Plus trim doesn’t get more features but adds in richer aluminium-look inlays. The top-spec Technology variant is pricey but your money does get you paddle shifters, SD card-based navigation, a reverse camera and a colour multi-info display in the instruments binnacle among other features.

The Q3 runs Audi’s MMI infotainment system. It is easy enough to use but the interface doesn’t look as slick as that in the newer Audis and there’s no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support either.

Audi Q3 Gearbox

The Audi Q3 is powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine with two states of tune. In one format, it generates 174 hp of power at 4,200 rpm and 380 Nm of torque between 1,750 rpm and 2,500 rpm. This version has an automatic transmission while the other variant is mated to a manual gearbox. The manual gearbox trims produce 138 hp of power at 4,200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque. Both engine tunes have generous performance figures for most driving conditions. Transmission available for one version of the Audi Q3 is a 7 speed S tronic automatic gearbox. This transmission is available only on the 35 TDI diesel engine powered variants. This variant also has Audi’s exclusive all wheel drive Quattro system. The 30 TDI S Edition version has a 6 speed manual transmission without Audi’s Quattro system. In terms of safety, the Audi Q3 SUV is offered with 8 airbags, ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), hill hold assist, traction control, Audi Multimedia Interface, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The Audi Q3 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.73 kmpl for the 35 TDI variants and 17.32 kmpl for the 30 TDI S Edition versions. The company recommends sulphur free diesel for best performance as well as fuel efficiency.

Audi Q3 Driving

The ride quality of the Q3 is on the firmer side when compared to its silky smooth Q brethren – the Q5 and the Q7. That said it’s still perfectly composed over any obstacle you will encounter in town. From small to large bumps you remain quite isolated and comfortable. There is also very little vertical or lateral movement from uneven surfaces too. There are some differences in the way the petrol and diesel behave on the road and out on the highway the petrol tends to feel a little flighty, due to some unnerving bouncy vertical movement at high speed, and this may be down to its lighter kerb weight; the diesel on the other hand with a heavier kerb weight and four wheel drive is unsurprisingly more planted on the highway. View offers & discounts on Audi Cars from Audi dealers in India/

The steering is quite light and this is excellent when navigating through city traffic and parking in tight spaces, but when you up the pace through a set of corners you’ll soon find it lacks any feedback. The chassis is quite nice when pushed, with the suspension handling any challenge our bumpy roads care to throw its way. There is a little bit of body roll when you push the car but this too is controlled and soon you can learn to trust the front and let the suspension handle the rest. The petrol engine with its gruff rumble and desire to rev is quite nice when your evil twin shows up behind the wheel, but it’s again let down by the lack of pedals that would have allowed better use of the gearbox while keeping both hands on the wheel. The diesel with its smooth spread of 380Nm of torque is again the more fun of the two even when you’re hooning around.

Audi Q3 Safety

When compared with its small SUV rivals, the Q3 falls short of the class best but still performs well with regards to safety. In fact, examining its five-star Euro NCAP rating more closely, it’s evident that the model’s child protection rating is near the top, although its pedestrian rating is only average. The Q3 provides most of the safety kit you’d expect: six airbags, including curtain bags that extend into the rear of the cabin, electronic stability control and ISOFIX fittings for the front passenger and two outer rear seats. However, automatic emergency braking isn’t available.

There’s a long, and largely reasonably priced, selection of optional safety and security kit including visual and acoustic front and rear parking aids, rear side airbags, and active lane assist and blind spot assist. To ward off thieves, deadlocks, locking wheelnuts and an alarm are also included. It’s enough for the Q3 to have earned five-star ‘theft-of’, and four-star ‘theft-from’ ratings from to security experts Thatcham.

Audi Q3 Conclussion

With the crossover craze alive and well here in the U.S., the Q3 will likely do rather well; especially considering its smart looks, powerful engine, all-wheel-drive capability, and room for five. Oh, and of course there’s the luxury brand identity Audi enjoys. With a reasonable starting price in the low to mid-$30,000 range, the Q3 is sure to be a strong hit.
