Nissan Micra Active Overview
The contemporary styling and practical drivability make the Micra Active a perfect urban hatchback. It is basically a more affordable version of the Micra. Under the hood, the Micra Active has a 1.5-litre powertrain mated with a five-speed manual transmission for front wheel power distribution.Priced at Rs 4.55 lakh, Micra Active is primarily a lucrative version of the regular Micra or in simple words it is the old Micra bereft of some features. Slotted beneath Micra in the line-up, it retains the basic contours, although, minor tweaks are made to differentiate both. The Micra Active range is spread across three variants powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine mated to a manual transmission. Book a test drive for Micra Active in Tryaldrive
Nissan Micra Active Design & Style
The Micra Active retains the look of the pre-facelifted design and the only noticeable difference is the new wider front bumper. The bulbous headlamps are present along with protruding tail lights. The updates add turn indicators on ORV. The hatchback is available in five colour options. The 2018 MY updates on the Micra Active are limited.Retaining the same silhouette, Nissan has skimmed few design elements from the Active version such as the chrome accents and fog-lamps. Bumper in front is wider and rear section gets an ‘Active’ badge.
Nissan Micra Active Cabin & Comfort
On the inside, the new features include 6.2-inch touch screen AVN with phone mirroring function. The front dual air-bags are now standard along with rear parking sensors. However, the overall layout remains unchanged. The Micra Active has the same dimensions as that of the previous car and hence it is actually a lot bigger than the rest of the vehicles in the segment.
Nissan Micra Active Engine & Gearbox
The Nissan Micra Active specifications have been carried over from the preceding model. It uses the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that puts out maximum power of 76 bhp against top torque of 104 Nm. Diesel variants too get the same 1.5-litre oil burner, which emanates 63 bhp and 160 Nm peak torque. The conventional five-speed manual gearbox is standard along and it gets an optional CVT.
The Nissan Micra Active mileage for the petrol version is rated at 19.34 km/l in ideal conditions. The more fuel-efficient diesel Micra, on the other hand, is claimed to return an impressive fuel economy of 23.08 km/l.
Nissan Micra Active Ride & Handling
The Micra can max 41 kmph in 1st gear @6800 RPM, 79 kmph in 2nd, 108 kmph in 3rd and 144 kmph in 4th gear. The top speed we managed was 160.7 kmph and we doubt there was much more left in the engine by thenThe gear shifter, just as in the Petrol variants, feels nice and meaty to hold and the shifts are precise.Unfortunately there is no option for ABS or EBD on any Variant. Though there is enough braking power available, we did get into a couple of tricky moments. Nissan have provided a sort of dead pedal, which is a little raised area to the left of the Clutch Pedal and it does help.Does the Diesel live upto the claimed (ARAI tested) 23.08 kmpl mark? With a bit of hypermiling techniques, perhaps. The Micra comfortably returned 16 kmpl and close to 21 kmpl on the highways. The average throughout the test was about 17.5 kmpl. If driven carefully on the Highways, between 80-120 kmph, the Micra returned 24.4 kmpl. The worst that we got was 12 kmpl during the performance runs.
The new Nissan Micra Active features ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum units at the rear. Safety features include standard dual frontal airbags, driver’s seat belt warning indicator, standard rear parking sensors and speed warning.

Nissan Micra Active Conclusion
Changes made to the 2018 Nissan Micra Active are primarily reserved to the additional features. Safety bits like dual airbags and rear parking sensors are now standard across the range, though anti-lock-braking system and brake assist are restricted to the top-spec XV trim. Unlike the Nissan Micra 2018, it misses out on the rear parking camera and rear spoiler. Besides, the model carried an affordable price tag, which makes it a suitable option in the B segment.
